We offer multiple fuel types, tuning goals, and tuning options. All tunes are custom and will be written for the fuel type, tuning goal, vehicle, and vehicle configuration specified at purchase: Fuel Type Fuel availability varies by region, so we generally recommend selecting a tune based on the highest-quality fuel consistently available in your area. • Auto-Octane (87-93 • Octane + up to E30) • 91+ Octane (91-93 Octane + up to E30) • 93 Octane (93 Octane + up to E30) • E50 (40-60% ethanol content) • E85 (70-90% ethanol content) Tuning Goal This is the starting point for your calibration and tells us what you're looking for in terms of responsiveness, gains, and end-goals: • Daily Driver (stock-like yet refined) • Performance (Goldilocks - not too much or too little) • Race (maximum power and full optimization) • Tow (towing and high work-demand applications) Depending on the vehicle platform, you may also have the option of either a Standard Tune or DMS™ (Drive Mode Specific) Calibration, which allows different tuning characteristics to be assigned to the factory drive modes.

The correct option depends on your situation: Tune Only: • You already own a compatible device. • You only need calibration files. Tuning Package: • You need both a tuning device and custom calibrations. • Recommended for most first-time customers. Additional Tune: • You already have an active ZFG calibration and need an additional fuel, performance, or other option added to your setup. Getting started is simple. To ensure no steps are missed, please follow our TDN Quick Start Guide in Tuning Central (linked below). Once your tuning device arrives, you'll: 1. Install the TDN App and set up your tuning device 2. Connect the device and read your vehicle's factory calibration. 3. Submit the required vehicle information through our calibration portal (Tuning Central). 4. Our calibration team will review your submission and build your custom tune. Once complete, you'll receive tune files through the TDN App along with instructions for data logging the latest revision. Additional revisions may be provided as needed based on datalog review and vehicle modifications.

Yes. Before tuning with ZFG Racing, any previously used tune or tuning device must be completely disconnected from the vehicle. For most tuning platforms, this means more than simply restoring the stock calibration. The device must be fully removed or "unmarried" from the vehicle according to the manufacturer's instructions so that neither the tuning device nor the vehicle remains linked to the previous tune. If you are unsure whether a previous tuning device has been fully removed, please let us know which device was used and we will be glad to help determine the next steps.

The ideal fuel type depends on your driving goals, local fuel availability, budget, and willingness to manage fuel quality. For customers seeking maximum flexibility, Auto-Octane allows operation across a wider range of fuel grades. Customers seeking maximum performance from pump gas often prefer a dedicated 91+ or 93-octane calibration. Ethanol-based calibrations such as E50 and E85 typically provide the highest performance potential but require ethanol availability and proper fuel management.

Custom tuning files, calibration services, software credits, and other digital products are non-refundable and non-transferable. Most new, unopened merchandise may be eligible for return within 30 days of delivery provided an RMA has been issued by ZFG Racing. Special-order items, electronics, and opened products are generally not eligible for return. Restocking fees of up to 25% may apply and are determined during the RMA review process. Custom tuning files, calibration services, and software-related purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable. Tune files may only be used on the vehicle for which they were originally created and cannot be transferred or reassigned to another vehicle or customer. Physical merchandise may be eligible for return within 30 days of delivery, provided a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) has been issued by ZFG Racing before the item is shipped back. Returned products must be brand new, unused, and in their original unopened packaging. In many cases, yes. Existing HP Tuners devices may be compatible with your vehicle and tuning goals. However, compatibility depends on the specific device model, device generation, vehicle platform, desired tuning method, and tuner preferences. Not all HP Tuners devices support all vehicles or tuning methods. For example, some vehicles may support the TDN App, while others may require VCM Suite. Licensing requirements and existing device usage may also affect compatibility. If you already own a tuning device, please contact us with the device model and vehicle information before purchase. We will be happy to help determine compatibility and any licensing requirements.

TDN (Tune Delivery Network) is the cloud-based service used by HP Tuners and ZFG Racing to exchange tune files and data logs remotely. Files are managed through the TDN App. After creating your account and linking ZFG Racing as your tuner, tune files, stock reads, and data logs can all be exchanged through the platform. TDN is a central part of the remote tuning process.

HP Tuners offers several advantages compared to many handheld tuning devices. In most cases, diagnostic software, dealer-level diagnostic tools, OBD-based monitoring devices, scan tools, gauges, and other vehicle accessories can continue to be used normally while a tune is installed. As a best practice, we recommend restoring the stock calibration before performing certain dealer-level programming or software updates, such as Ford FDRS or IDS programming. Additionally, the HP Tuners Restore file generated from your original stock read is a true and complete copy of your factory calibration and controller data. Because HP Tuners devices do not permanently marry themselves to the vehicle's ECU, customers generally do not need to worry about long-term device-to-vehicle associations if the tune is removed in the future, such as for resale or returning the vehicle to stock.

No modifications are required to enjoy the benefits of custom tuning. However, for customers looking to maximize performance, we generally recommend the following upgrade path: Intercooler Intake Downpipes Transmission Upgrades Fuel System Upgrades Turbocharger Upgrades The ideal modification path will vary based on your vehicle, goals, budget, and intended use. Some customers are primarily interested in reliability and consistency, while others are pursuing maximum performance.

1. Can I move my tune to a different vehicle? No. Custom tuning is built for the specific vehicle, VIN, operating system, modifications, fuel type, and configuration provided at purchase. A tune purchased for Vehicle A cannot simply be transferred to Vehicle B, even if the owner remains the same. ___________________________________ 2. Can I sell a vehicle that already has a ZFG tune? Maybe. If the original purchaser is selling a vehicle that already has an active ZFG tune installed, available options depend on the specific vehicle, tuning device, purchase history, and current configuration. These situations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us before completing the sale so we can discuss any available options. ___________________________________ 3. Can I sell or transfer my HP Tuners device? Generally, yes. HP Tuners devices are separate from the custom tune itself. Device ownership, compatibility, and licensing are managed through HP Tuners. The tuning device may play a role in available tuning-transfer options, but transferring or selling a device does not automatically transfer any custom tuning services, support, or calibration ownership. If you're planning to sell or transfer a device, please contact us first so we can review your specific situation.

Auto-Octane is a fuel type we offer for tunes. Auto-Octane tunes are designed to accommodate a broader range of pump-gas fuel octanes than a dedicated premium-fuel tune, such as 91+ Octane or 93 Octane. While Auto-Octane provides excellent flexibility, dedicated premium-fuel calibrations generally offer greater performance potential. Auto-Octane is often a good choice for customers who travel frequently or live in areas where premium fuel availability varies. This fuel type is also well-suited for use as a tow and travel tune.

Yes. Even though Tow Mode is not a selectable drive mode, it can still be seen and adjusted through tuning.

Yes. We tune both the F150 PowerBoost and 3.0L hybrid Explorer/Aviator platforms including the Aviator GT, Police Interceptor Hybrid, and EU spec Explorer Hybrid.

DMS™ (Drive Mode Specific) is ZFG Racing's proprietary multi-calibration tuning system. Rather than applying a single calibration to all drive modes, DMS™ assigns different power profiles and tuning characteristics to the vehicle's factory drive modes. Depending on the platform and configuration, drive modes can be calibrated with different power levels, throttle response, transmission behavior, shift schedules, torque management strategies, and other performance characteristics. This allows customers to switch between different driving experiences using the factory drive mode selector without requiring additional tune flashing. • Eco: Daily Driver Profile • Normal: Performance Profile • Sport: Race profile Tow: Dedicated towing calibration • Trail / Baja: Stock Profile Available drive mode assignments and features vary by platform and application.

Yes. We support aftermarket catted downpipes. We do not support catless downpipes or catless exhaust configurations under any circumstances. While downpipes do not always require specific tuning changes, we generally recommend installing them before completing data logs whenever possible. This allows us to review performance with the final hardware configuration installed.

Yes. We tune all Police Interceptor vehicles, including Explorer 2.3L, 3.0L, 3.0L Hybrid, Mustang 2.3L, and F-150 2.7L and 3.5L variants.
