ZFG Racing DMS™ (Drive Mode Specific) Calibration is our proprietary calibration system that allows each factory drive mode to have its own unique calibration strategy—within a single, unified calibration package.
Unlike traditional across‑the‑board tuning, DMS™ enables ZFG Racing to tailor performance, drivability, and vehicle behavior independently across multiple drive modes, based on your vehicle, fuel type, and intended use.
What is ZFG Racing DMS™?
DMS™ (Drive Mode Specific) is ZFG Racing’s proprietary calibration approach that allows different factory drive modes to operate with distinct behavior and characteristics, rather than sharing one universal calibration strategy.
Configuring your DMS™ Calibration System
Drive‑mode‑specific behavior is configured after purchase, during your first Tune Request. All drive modes within a DMS™ Calibration System share one selected fuel type.
For all DMS™ Calibrations, any Tow‑specific calibration is assigned exclusively to Tow Mode.
How DMS™ Differs from Our EcoBoost Custom Tune
Our standard EcoBoost Custom Tune applies a single calibration strategy (referred to as a Tuning Goal) across all factory drive modes.
With ZFG Racing DMS™, each drive mode can be calibrated independently—allowing different behavior for daily driving, spirited use, towing (where applicable), or aggressive operation, depending on the platform and configuration.
Common DMS™ Use Cases May Include:
- Comfort / Daily-focused drive modes
- Performance-oriented or spirited drive modes
- Tow-focused drive modes (where applicable)
- Sport or track-focused drive modes
Exact configurations vary by platform, hardware, and calibration strategy.

DMS™ Expected Gains:
Power gains depend on fuel type, vehicle configuration, and DMS™ setup. Peak output will be different in each mode. Peak output will vary by drive mode.
Typical tune‑only gains range from 50–170 WHP, depending on these factors.
Tuning Device & Remote Access
Get the ZFG Racing HP Tuners RTD package (Remote Tuning Device) for a seamless, laptop-free tuning experience. HP Tuners is the company who manufacturers the tools ZFG Racing uses to send custom tunes to your vehicle. These devices let you flash your car’s computer with performance upgrades remotely.
You'll use the TDN (Tune Delivery Network) App to manage tuning:
- Flash between stock and custom tunes
- Send and receive tune files
- Record and share data logs
- Read and clear DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
... all from your mobile device.
DMS™ System Coverage for Engine (ECM) and Transmission (TCM):
The ZFG DMS™ Calibration System provides distinct Engine and Transmission calibrations per drive mode, based on your modifications and preferences.
Important Notes:
- E85 Tunes - Please read the "Fuel Type" section carefully
- Your device will not arrive with a pre-loaded tune. ZFG DMS™ Calibrations and Custom Tunes require a series of revisions and data logs before completion.
- After purchase, please follow instructions for getting started in the "Next Steps" email. These instructions are also found in our Quick Start Guide.
- Average turnaround time is two weeks from submitting your Stock Calibration and first tune request.
- Tune requests must be submitted on our website (See:Tuning Central). These requests are required - we will not send a tune, review a data log, or take any other action on your tune until the proper request has been submitted.
- Our Calibrations and services are non-refundable and non-transferable! All Calibrations are vehicle-specific and cannot be reused or reassigned.
